AIA NZ has appointed Alex Kühnast as Chief Product & Strategy Officer following an executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.

AIA New Zealand Limited is part of the AIA Group and has been providing insurance to New Zealanders since 1981. Reporting to the Chief Executive, and joining the AIA NZ Leadership Team, Alex will be responsible for product, pricing, investments and strategy.

Alex has lived and worked in South Africa as well as a number of other countries including the Netherlands, United Kingdom and New Zealand. Prior to joining AIA NZ, Alex was Principal – Head of Insurance Consulting & Actuarial Services at KPMG New Zealand, a role which he held since June 2022 after transferring from KPMG South Africa. He has also previously worked at Different Life, been CEO at KGA Life in South Africa and held senior roles at Aegon, KPMG Netherlands and Hollard Insurance.

Alex is a current Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and New Zealand Society of Actuaries. He also has a Management certification from the Said Business School at the University of Oxford.
