Alliance Group has appointed Willie Wiese as Chief Executive following an executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.

Alliance Group is one of New Zealand’s largest primary sector companies with revenues in excess of $2b. The 100% farmer-owned red meat co-operative exports lamb, beef, venison & co-products to more than 65 countries around the world. SEQEL appointed Willie to Alliance Group in 2017 as General Manager of Manufacturing, and in this role he has overseen a team of circa 4,500 staff operating within Alliance’s network of eight freezing works plants throughout New Zealand. 

Previously Willie was Chief Operations Officer at Asaleo Care, a $700 million Australasian consumer products business owned by Pacific Equity Partners. During this period he oversaw the majority of the organisation’s headcount, being responsible for manufacturing, logistics, imports, exports, procurement, safety, sustainability and the overall capital program across the Australasia and Pacific Islands businesses. Previously Willie held the role of Group General Manager Paper and Recycling at Amcor. His tenure in Australia followed a significant career in South Africa where he worked for a range of leading organisations including time as the African Chief Executive for Nampak Group, which at the time was the world’s fifth largest packaging company.

Willie holds Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management and Electrical Engineering, all completed from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Willie has acted in the role of Chief Executive since mid February when David Surveyor stepped down to return to Australia.
