Ballance Agri-Nutrients appoints Clement Chia as Non Executive Director

Ballance Agri-Nutrients has appointed Clement Chia as an Independent Director following a Director search undertaken by SEQEL Partners. 

Ballance, head officed in Mount Maunganui, is New Zealand’s largest fertiliser co-operative with revenues of circa $1 billion and 800 staff located across the country.  

Clement brings a wealth of experience gained in financial, commercial and operational positions of responsibility across publicly listed and privately owned manufacturing, FMCG and forestry businesses.

He is currently Finance Director for Woolworths New Zealand, the country’s largest supermarket retailer and a subsidiary of ASX listed Woolworths Group. Prior to that Clement was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for NZX listed seafood company Sanford. Earlier, he was Chief Financial Officer for Griffins Food Company for six years during the period it was owned by leading private equity firm, Pacific Equity Partners. Clement started his career at Deloitte, before moving client side at Fletcher Challenge Forests and CHH Woodproducts.

Clement has held a number of board positions previously. Notably he was the Chair of the Finance and Commercial Committee for the Selwyn Foundation which operated seven retirement villages and employed 1200 people.

Clement is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. His appointment is effective from September 2024.
