Chorus to appoint Miriam Dean as Non Executive Director

Chorus has announced that Miriam Dean will be standing for appointment as a Non Executive Director at the October Annual Shareholders Meeting following an executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.
Miriam is a Queens Counsel who splits her time between governance, enquiry and review work, and mentoring up and coming talent in the legal space.
She has significant experience in the infrastructure and regulatory sectors, most notably as a current Director of Ōtākaro Limited (the Crown-owned company responsible for the central city anchor projects following the Canterbury earthquakes); as a former Director of Crown Infrastructure Partners (the Government organisation managing the rollout of New Zealand’s ultrafast broadband); as a former Deputy Chair of Auckland Council Investments; and as a former Deputy Chair of the Commerce Commission
From a review perspective, notable pieces of work include reviewing Weta Digital’s workplace culture in 2020, conducting Auckland Council’s review of Council Controlled Organisations in 2020, Chairing the Electricity Price Review in 2018, reviewing on behalf of Corrections the Prisoners Mail issue in 2019 and leading the high-profile Fonterra Whey Protein Concentrate contamination incident (WPC80) investigation in 2014.
Miriam has a Bachelor of Social Sciences from Waikato University, a LLB from the University of Auckland and a LLM from Harvard University.
Miriam replaces Prue Flacks who is retiring from the Chorus Board.
