Contact Energy has appointed David Gibson as an Independent Director following a board search process conducted by SEQEL Partners. 

David brings broad governance experience and is currently Deputy Chair of Goodman (NZ) and a Director of Freightways, NZME and Rangatira. He is a former director of Trustpower and is actively involved in assisting with a number of New Zealand growth companies.

With a 20 year investment banking career, David’s final executive role was as the Co-Head of Investment Banking in New Zealand for Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Craigs. In this role he completed several of New Zealand’s largest M&A and equity transactions, including within the energy sector.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, David served a four-year apprenticeship with Cameron & Company as an Investment Banker, having started his career in the Lion Nathan Graduate Programme.

David holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury. His appointment is effective as of 20 February 2024.
