The ITM Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Darrin Hughes as Chief Executive Officer following an executive search undertaken by SEQEL Partners.

Independent Timber Merchants (ITM) Cooperative owes its origins to 1991 and an early network of around 12 stores. Today ITM has expanded to cover New Zealand from top to bottom, with a network of 94 stores and 24 frame and truss manufacturing plants.

The appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer in Darrin Hughes is a significant event for the cooperative. Reporting to the Board of Directors, comprising independent Directors and elected Directors from the cooperative shareholder base, Darrin will lead the central team of the building trade merchant.

Darrin brings extensive B2B distribution and retail experience to the role. He is currently Managing Director for Ideal Electrical Suppliers in New Zealand. Previously Darrin spent time in Brisbane, Australia, working through a range of distribution roles. Earlier in Darrin’s career, he spent time with Telecom New Zealand and Ideal Electrical in various General Manager and Sales roles.

Darrin will be joining ITM in November 2017.
