Kiwibank appoints Anne Haira as Future Director

Kiwibank has appointed Anne Haira as a Future Director following a board director search undertaken by SEQEL Partners.
Anne has had a rich and diverse career spanning the public and private sectors. She has been part of the executive leadership team at the Ministry for the Environment since 2019 and has held leadership roles in climate change policy, data and evidence, and external affairs functions. She is currently the Deputy Secretary Partnerships, Investments and Enablement. A core focus of her leadership is strengthening the Ministry’s approach to working collaboratively with others across the environmental system to accelerate change.
Anne has previously worked as a senior lawyer with commercial law firm Kensington Swan advising a wide range of iwi and hapū on Treaty settlement negotiations as well as post-settlement issues. She joined the Ministry for the Environment from Primary ITO where she was part of the senior leadership team and prior to that, she pioneered Fonterra's Māori Strategy and the strategic development of Fonterra's relationships with Māori. Anne began her career in government and held policy roles at the Ministry of Economic Development and Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry of Māori Development). She has also worked overseas for the Secretariat of the Pacific Community in New Caledonia as well as the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs in Vancouver, Canada.
Anne affiliates to Te Arawa, Ngāti Kahungunu and Rangitāne and lives in Wellington. Her appointment is effective as of 1 May 2024.
