Ngāhūia Group Appoints Daniel Hepstead as Chief Financial Officer

Ngāhūia Group are delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Hempstead as Chief Financial Officer following an executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.

Ngāhūia Group is New Zealand’s largest footwear retail group comprising of two of the most recognised retailers in the country: Hannahs and Number One Shoes. The Group has 110 stores and is the market leader with a circa 30% share of the NZ footwear market. Allegro, a private equity firm based in Sydney, has the majority shareholding in the business.

As CFO, Daniel will report to the Joint Managing Directors, John Elliott and Roger Harper, and will be charged with  providing both operational and strategic support to the organisation through leading the finance function and acting as a key member of the Executive Team. 

Daniel is an experienced CFO with broad experience covering a range of industries including Footwear Retail, Health Services, Technology and Consumer Products. He is currently CFO for Smartfoods, a private equity owned cereal manufacturer. Daniel’s earlier experience includes CFO for Pet Doctors, and both operations and finance roles with Bay Audiology. He has previously worked in the UK for Kurt Geiger, a luxury shoe retailer.

Daniel joins Ngahuia Group in March 2020.
