Port of Tauranga Limited Confirms Leonard Sampson as Chief Executive Officer

Port of Tauranga Limited has confirmed Leonard Sampson as the company’s new Chief Executive, following a CEO succession and assessment process facilitated by SEQEL Partners.
Leonard will take over from Mark Cairns when he retires in June 2020. Leonard is currently the Port’s Chief Operating Officer. He was previously Commercial Manager for six years, a role which had responsibility for sales & marketing, terminal operations, bulk port operations, maritime operations and security covering around 180 of the company’s 220 staff. His earlier career included general management and commercial leadership roles with Kiwirail, Toll, Carter Holt Harvey and Mainfreight. Leonard holds a NZ Diploma of Business and has also completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program.
