Friday 25 August 2023

Seafood New Zealand has appointed Greg Gent as Chair following a board search process conducted by SEQEL Partners.

Seafood New Zealand is a newly established entity set up to drive unity and collaboration across the New Zealand seafood sector. Created through an amalgamation of sector groups including Seafood NZ, DeepWater Group, and Fisheries Inshore NZ the organisation will address enterprises challenges as a whole with a stronger ‘one voice’ approach.

Greg is one of New Zealand’s most high-profile rural governors, having been a key member in the establishment of Fonterra as the ex-Chair of Kiwi Dairy - one of the two companies which came together to create the business, and Chairing market leading rural insurer FMG for a number of years. He is currently the Chair of Dairy Holdings and until recently was the Chair of both the Southern Cross Insurance and Hospitals businesses. He also assisted with public sector governance, including time on the Northland District Health Board.

Greg joined the board as the new Chair in August, taking over from interim chair Andre Gargiulo.
