Southern Cross Healthcare appoints Peter Gudsell as Chief Financial Officer

Southern Cross Healthcare has appointed Peter Gudsell as Chief Financial Officer following an executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.

As New Zealand’s largest national network of private hospitals, and with a range of joint venture wellbeing partners, Southern Cross Healthcare is well positioned to revolutionise the private health sector and provide outstanding patient experiences and outcomes.

Peter is an experienced CFO with a broad background in sectors including telco, education, and public sector. Currently Peter is the Group Chief Financial Officer at Auckland Council, New Zealand’s largest Council with $70b in assets, where he leads the finance, procurement, statutory reporting, billing and PMO functions. Previously, Peter spent four years as Director of Financial Services (CFO) for the University of Auckland and supported both Auckland UniServices (commercialisation arm) and the Foundation (philanthropic trust). Earlier roles of note include CFO for Christchurch City Council and 15 years within New Zealand telcos (Vodafone and Telecom) in increasingly senior finance mandates.

Peter holds a Diploma in Accounting from Victoria University of Wellington, a Masters of Agricultural Commerce in Economics from Lincoln University, and a Diploma in Arts in Psychology from Massey University. He commences with Southern Cross Healthcare in early March.
