Southern Cross Healthcare has appointed Roger Cronin as Chief Operating Officer – Wholly Owned Hospitals following an international executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.
Southern Cross Healthcare is New Zealand’s largest private healthcare organisation and has been a trusted part of the New Zealand healthcare system for over 40 years. Comprised of a nationwide network of joint venture and wholly owned hospitals, specialist centres, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and employer health and wellness providers, the not-for-profit continually looks for ways to enhance and support the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders.
Roger is a deeply experienced health sector executive with a background spanning clinical and leadership roles across Australia, the UK and the Middle East. Most recently, Roger spent 15 years as CEO of PresMed Australia - a network of eight private surgical day hospitals and two consulting practices specialising in ENT and Eye/Ophthalmology and pain services. Under his guidance the healthcare business expanded rapidly across three states. Previously, Roger spent time with the NSW Ministry of Health in roles including Compliance and Regulations Manager for Private Healthcare and Principal Analyst for Corporate Governance and Risk Management. This tenure provided him with strong insights into the governance and delivery of large scale hospitals and complex health systems. Roger’s earlier career was spent in increasingly senior nursing mandates across a range of public and private hospitals.
Roger holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing from Charles Sturt University and is currently completing a Masters of Business Administration. He commences with Southern Cross Healthcare in late November.
