Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu has appointed Joe Hanita as Group Chief Financial Officer following an executive search conducted by SEQEL Partners.

Joe (Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Rangitāne, Ngāti Kahungunu, Te Ātiawa) brings extensive experience in senior financial leadership and governance roles within Māori asset owning organisations and has particular strength in capital stewardship, balance sheet management, investment and divestment decision-making. Throughout his career, Joe has supported organisations through periods of change, helping strengthen financial foundations while maintaining a clear focus on purpose and sustainability.

Joe is widely respected for his values led approach and strong commitment to serving future generations with humility and integrity.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Business from Waikato Institute of Technology and a Diploma in Te Ara Reo Māori from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. He will be joining Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu in July 2026.
